The Perfect Teeth Whitening Protocol – Step by step
Step One
After a full consultation ensuring that you are suitable for teeth
whitening your Pearlys teeth whitening specialist will check the
current shade of your teeth using a dental shade guide and make sure
that you agree with the assessment.
Step Two
A cheek retractor is put into your mouth to comfortably hold your lips
and tongue away from your teeth. Your practitioner will then apply a
patented ‘desensitiser’ onto the top of your teeth to help prevent any
hightened sensitivity that may be caused by whitening. Next a gel is
applied to the top and bottom millimetre of your teeth and hardened
with an ultra violet light. This becomes a protective barrier for the
gums.
Step Four
Whitening gel is applied to the front teeth, usually the front top and
bottom 10 teeth can be reached during in-clinic whitening. The
whitening gel is activated with a special light for 8-10 minutes
whilst you relax.
Step Five
Step four is repeated 2 more times to complete the in-clinic part of
your treatment. Your post laser teeth shade will then be assessed and
compared with your pre-laser shade. On average our clients will see an
8-12 shade improvement at this stage.
Step Six – Customised Home-kit
The power whitening is a great way to quickly start the whitening
process, however if you think about it – you have had your adult
teeth since you were around 10 years old and for most people it’s
simply just not possible to lift all of the years’ of staining with
one power whitening treatment. In order to see the best and longest
lasting results you need to use a Pearlys bespoke home-kit.
For the home-kit you will be shown how to take a simple impression of
your teeth which will be used by our Pearlys laboratory to fabricate
customised trays that exactly fit your teeth. This is so important
because poorly fitting trays (like the ‘one size fits all’ kind that
you heat in hot water) will at best give a very poor and uneven
whitening result and at worst hurt and potentially damage your gums.
The home-kit is then used to either further whiten the teeth or (if
the desired whiteness is achieved with the power whitening) to
maintain the whiter smile in the months and years to come. The
whitening gel that comes with the home-kit will last for 2 years
without loosing efficacy as long as it’s kept in the fridge.
